Default Visa query

Is there any difference between J1 Visa sponsored and J1 visa accepted by the hospital?
Can we ask ECFMG to sponsor visa for us?

It's the ECFMG that sponsors the J1 visa for IMGs. The Residency program does not pay a dime for the to-be-intern's J1 visa.

The program does sponsor H1 visas, depending on their policy. But some also expect the applicant to cover all H1 sponsorship costs including lawyer fees.

So do you mean to say that ecfmg sponsors the J1 visa n not the program? If yes, do we have to apply to ecfmg to sponsor us the J1 visa in advance?

Yes, ECFMG sponsors the visa. And no, you don't have to apply for it in advance. You apply for it only after you match in March.
