I agree Number of LORs and home country LOR

I have 3 US LORs and 1 home country LOR, all tailored for my specialty of choice. We can assign 4 LORs to each program we apply through ERAS. But most of the programs have 3 LORs as their requirement. So my question is, if we assign 4 LORs to these programs, do they look at all 4 LORs or just randomly select 3 LORs out of those four?

And do we really need home country LORs? They are unwaived, while US LORs are waived. Is it a wise thing to apply with only US LORs?

Any input will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and good luck for upcoming season.

What kind of LOR do you have from your home country? Did you work or form school? Because if, for example, you worked in your home country and you only did observerships in US, if I were you I would definitely use the one from home, even if unwaived.

I hope someone else with more experience will answer your other questions.

My home country LOR is from the dept chair of my med school. I am thinking of using it too and applying with 4 LORs. Let the programs select which ones they want to look at!
