Help IMG, Guidance regarding residency...

I am an IMG. I need some guidance from you regarding the residency in USA.

- USMLE STEP 1 score - 224, - USMLE STEP 2 CK score - 216 - Failed my Usmle CS examination recently. - Grauduated in July,2014 - 1 month of US clinical experience in internal medicine - 1 month of experience at University of Toronto, Canada in department of infectious diseases. - Need Visa I was thinking of applying for the match this year but because of the failure i won't be able to. Are there still any chances for me to get residency in US or are the doors closed for me now? If yes then how should i proceed further? Please guide me... Thank you

I'm actually applying for the first time as well but as I was looking into programs many want USCE and they exclude observerships and research so try to get USCE.

You obviously can't do clerkships as you've graduated. Try to get externships/research to build your CV.

The most ideal things in your situation would be to pass CS, step 3, get externships or research, if you are not able to find any positions for research or externships, do observerships. You could also try volunteering. You need to have some form of patient contact, if you are unable to find anything in US, try searching for positions in your home country.

Sorry I have no idea about MPH courses. All I know is that majority of these courses aren't exactly cheap. As far as their worth, you gotta ask someone who actually went into the field. Best of luck!

I know about MPH that they could matter a lot cause they mean you know lots of statistics and you may come in handy for them.
Do you guys have any idea if GPA matter much for IMGs applying for Radiology?
My GPA is about 3.5 but what worries me is that I've got a 2.39 on one of my Anatomy courses (in our country it's separated so we have 4 anatomy courses) however others were good. Is it gonna make me fail to match for radiology??
I'm an IMG by the way Can a step I score of 245-250 compensate for that?

Thank you for the advice. So what do you think regarding my applicant status. Should i go for MPH or clear my CS, be done with my Step 3, look for some externships ??? To my knowledge I dont think your GPA's would hinder the process of your match...you should confirm the same from someone else too.

I recommend you to consider this in mind that MPH is a time-consuming process (about 1.5 years) so it may change your plans a little bit however for some programs it may be a big deal to have a MPH (I'm not absolutely sure).
