Hey manu pandey u seem to be quite nervous about this match. u have excellent scores. 261 and 254 are considered stellar and being fresh graduate is a huge plus. But there is no absolute safe score. Apply to at least 150 programs. Average Us lor is anyday better than indian lor. Chill and prepare for IV

hi,
I am nervous coz this is my only shot.......i am on a shaky ground financially so I have to cut down on a lot of things including programs I should apply to....3300 dollars is big money for me
going back and doing residency in India will be a killer coz its completely different and I cannot sit at home for a whole year.....due to above mentioned financial reasons
btw how should I prepare for interviews

jesus.. stop crying. no offense but you have great scores. just apply dammit. i keep seeing people here with 250+ always complaining about not matching. just do your research and apply to programs that take IMG.

YOU DONT NEED more than 100 programs with those score. LOOK AT THE DATA FROM LAST YEARS MATCH

This guy is right. As harsh as he sounds. Stop whining everywhere in the forums, and even less asking for your "chances of matching". What is even worse, is that the people that are 240 and above seem to be more insecure about their stuff.

All applications are different, so if you know or heard of other people with high scores not matching, its because of something. Either they had a bad LOR and they didnt know, or maybe they LIED in their application, making up stuff like research experience, maybe they just told you they had 250 but in reality they had 219, because they were a douche. You dont know these people, as far as you know, they went to the interview in dirty flipflops and they could barely speak proper English while putting in their application "native speaker".

NO ONE knows your application better than you, therefore, YOU are best predictor for your chances of matching. Don't compare yourself to other people unless for learning from their mistakes and improving your own application.

Yes there is. And about the LORs, if you only have 2 LORs use them both. AND also get a strong home LOR. They are more useful than you think, depending on the program. So there, if you see a program that says "We do not require USCE bla bla", send them your strong home LOR. Cause they arent even looking for US LORs

your attending's want to see you succeed. I'm sure they wouldn't want to write you a letter if all the have to say is bad things. UNLESS for some reason you completed pissed off your attending and he wants to see you never be a doctor.

generally people are more inclined to say NO i will not write you a letter if they have terrible things to say about you.

i say make a nice package for your attending, CV, Personal statement, USMLE grades and have them write whatever they can.

Speaking of LOR. I have an lor from US indian doctor whose last name is same as mine. Although he is not related to me. So shall i use his LOR. People said dont use his LOR, cause it may give impression that it is family lor.
