US work experience on the ERAS Applciation
I know this topic has been discussed pretty extensively on other threads but I had a question regarding externships. I did "hands-on" clinical work experience in Chicago-one was at a private practice and one at a hospital.
The hands-on experience was done when I had taken all of my USMLE steps but before getting ecfmg certified as I was waiting for my step 2 cs results. Is it still ok to list them as externships and use a LOR from one of the physicians? From everything that I've read it seems ok but I really wanted to make sure. The externship wasn't done through a company, it was with a doctor I knew from my medical school elective.
Also, in case anyone was wondering I did get in touch with eras regarding where to put externships/observerships in our application-they've suggested to put them under "work experience" regardless of the work being unpaid-it was double checked with the manager at eras...I know that's been up for debate in a few forums.
