Sitting at 5 ER IV's. Hoping to pick up a few more before the end of January. Seems things have been pretty quiet. Just a trickle of declines last few days:

Looks like you guys are still getting interviews. I'm still stuck at one which was at SLU. Looks like its a good thing I applied to many IM programs just in case. Happy holidays.

Well if all the rumors are true (and for once I hope they are) then as we approach January and people drop excessive interviews some of us should get interviews from wait lists. Here's hoping.

Congrats! Another EM applicant from my class got 2 invites last week, so it seems that people really are dropping their last interviews.

Now that we are at the end of the season does anyone mind sharing what their total number of interviews ended up being? I ended up with 5.

SLOE=standardized letter of evaluation

EM is way harder to match than IM. Read over this a bit http://www.nrmp.org/wp-content/uploa...d.PDF-File.pdf

I've taken to vacillating between terror napping, anxiety exercising and fear drinking. This is going to be one long week.....

Congrats to everyone who finds out tomorrow that they matched EM ! I unfortunately know I did not, but I am grateful to have matched a prelim year somewhere. For those who come to this thread next year for advice, know that you should always rank a backup! Hopefully I have better luck in 2016 applying as a resident!

Sorry about that, I didn't even have a synapse clicking when I read "prelim". Congrats on the prelim and you're going to match EM in 2016!!

Hey I am in the same boat about applying to EM and IM and I wanted to see if you can share your expierence?! that would be very helpful. IDK if its acceptable to apply to 2 specialities (EM & IM) at the same university? there aren't a lot of IMG friendly EM programs to begin with...

Please share your input. I would really really appreciate it.

I am doing an ER rotation where it doesn't have a residency programs. And right now i can't find any that will take IMG... I am trying NY now.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's most important for a successful EM application is having strong SLOEs (Standard Letter of Evaluations). You need to do EM audition rotations at residency programs in order to get a SLOE. For an IMG 2 SLOEs are best, and 3 SLOEs are even better. If you do well on Steps (with a heavier emphasis on Step 2 CK) and get very good SLOEs, you should have a pretty strong application.
I was wondering, how important is research work for an IMG when applying for EM residency programs ? Please do reply, thanks
