Its not very tough if you don't need visa sponsorship (GC/citizenship)..you just have to reach out to people and show them your interest.

mention these things in our email, and this will help you. tell them that you want to volunteer, you will volunteer for at least a year, you do not need visa, and you can come to see them at a short notice. attach a copy of your resume, and keep the content of email as little as u can, not exceeding 2-3 paras. mention volunteer, no visa requirement in subject.

You aint gonna get paid.. if you want research assistants job..contact drexel university.and mail directly to all program directors and professors. I was getting a ra job with promise of residency. I refused coz there was no salary and i had better alternatives, i got 10 similar offers. I mailed them for fellowship and they mailed me back with ra position.

Hello Orthoguy

Since you are already into research, I would like to get some advice from you. I have been emailing doctors for volunteer work in their research and i got one positive reply from a doctor at a university hospital.

Can you please brief how can I prepare for the interview? what do you say when he asks about my goals in research project? Thank you so much in advance.

hi Saba,

be confident. you are looking to work with this doc, they will feel good that someone is looking to work and learn from them which is an honor. show that you are really interested and not only doing it for the LOR. Searchf or his or her CV online and read a couple of their papers. be respectful and once you get the job show your commitment with it, working late and pushing hard.

good luck and let me know if you guys have any more questions

Hello Orthoguy

Thank you for replying. This will be my first research job.. i am a little nervous as to how to take it from here..

I just wanted to ask you that eventually I do have plan to apply for residency.. So how do i tackle this if the doctor asks? do i be honest and tell him that my long term goal is to apply for residency? and Also can u please give me an idea on what to say if he asks what are you goals in this research project?

Thank you so much in advance!! I really appreciate that everybody is genuinely is helping each other on this forum!!

Hi again Saba,

in my opinion being honest is the best way to go. tellhim or her that you want to apply to residency later that you have done this and that and what your goals are, they will try to help you out. im in my third month of being a RA as a volunteer and its been great

again, be honest and tell them what your final goals are.

Is there any pre-requisite for grabbing these programmes like research assistant in clinical research field??? I'm talking about exams like GRE, TOEFL etc.........or simply one just have to show real passionate interest in the respected fields and afterwards mail the professors..........waiting for some valuable opinion.
