What up.

234/219/pass 1st attempt/2013/1 month IM USCE.

Applied mostly to Peds, with some FM, some Psych, and exactly 2 IM programs where I thought I had a decent chance.

thanks guys!

are you planning to stay in USA during the interview season or go back and forth from Toronto?

if you are currently in GTA, isn't it better to go from Buffalo to your interviews? and get greyhound to Buffalo airport

that's what i am thinking to do

Hmm not sure Lu Da. I am currently in the US doing research.

Im originally from Toronto too, dont really see a problem taking a plane from Pearson International. I would maybe advise booking all your interviews in the same time range, if possible . So stay a week in that area you are interviewing and see if you can get the other interviews.

Yo yo yo Homeslices, and we meet up again hehehe
My creds are also below and I applied only to IM

Havent got any emails yet but I think all the programs are taking it a little easy and havent really started sending out IVs yet, seeing from the low amount of noise in the other threads.

Im from Edmonton, I bet most of you guys are from Toronto as usual.

Best of Luck to Everyone!

Hello fellow Canadians!

Looking at the match numbers makes me wish i had a green card. I feel just as qualified as my US-IMG counterparts.

I hear you man....sad for us.. I personally know a few people with green card/citizenship and scores less than 220/225 already getting at least 3 interviews..

Amen to that!

I gave my MCC EE last year, and its a joke of an exam compared to the MLE's. their no consistency and their are loads of spelling mistakes in the questions and answers on the REAL exam ahaha. But honestly they dont give a rats *** about CSA/IMG, and yet you have to wait 9 hours at Emergency in a Hospital just to drain a stupid carbuncle ( happened to a friend of friend of mine :-P )

i think u should do it.i believe i wasted my money on mcc exams.i signed for nac osce but withdraw my application when they change criteria of getting ivs in ontario they need 80 in osce which means 4/5 in every stations, it is far away difficult from cs.they bring difficult presentations and examiner ask u more difficult questions.by the way there is no refund when i withdraw nac osce they took 300 $ and kept money with them as credit if i wanna apply again.it is not easy in canada, i think i will try in usa till i get the chance.

NAC was scheduled during the time we apply in US. I knew i wouldnt have time or energy to worry about both stressors. I let NAC go and focused my energy on US.

Actually I recently read in The Star that Ontario gives out more CPSO licenses to IMGs than CMGs now. Here's a link and an excerpt from the article. Mind you that this is only from Ontario and not all of Canada. Overall, Canada's percentage of IMG match is around 18-20% as compared to 50%/ in the US.

Article link -
"In 2013, the college, which is a regulatory body, issued 4,441 certificates of registration. The 1,793 certificates to IMGs is a record, compared to 1,646 from Ontario, according to the CPSO."

Personally, I think its much much easier to finish residency in the states and then come back here. I know quite a few people who've done that!

i live in ontario, i have alot of friends appiled to carms for years and didnt get any thing.in fact the hope for img in canada is in winnipig, newfoundland, sask. but forget ontario .if any img in ON got residency either he has very high scores like mccee 450+ , nac osce 80+ or he has strong connections which play major rule in Canada. yes i believe trying to match in usa is easier and a lot of people go back to Canada after residency but i think u should do mcc exam to practice in canada.

Spent way too much money, and too much of my life chasing this dream.

I love Canada and all, but I'm good and ready to trade in my passport for a GC. In fact, I'd be willing to consider trading just for a couple of interviews.

Aahaha I feel you brother... and LU DA its been getting a lot slower now, for the past 2 weeks, it hasnt been as great. But since most people say Mid October is where most interviews get sent out and since programs are struggling with ERAS this year, we could hopefully be receiving more interviews near the end of October now, so lets hope for the best!

I havent heard of the J1 and how many they will allow before, but hopefully theirs no limit...

Default Need a NAC OSCE partner in Toronto

Hello, I apologize if this is a bit off topic for you guys. But I'm in desperate need of a partner in North York or Downtown Toronto so that I can practice clinical cases for the NAC OSCE exams. So far I tried contacting a few other people with no luck. I need someone where we can meet on a regular basis and where travelling won't be an issue. If you could spend a bit of your time to help me practice, please respond. Thanks.

Even with amazing scores, Canadians arent getting many interviews, its kinda disheartening. Almost every Canadian friends i have are reporting zero interviews, each has above 220s. The only one with interviews is he one who has 240 and 245 ck scores.

Is it just my circle of friends or are u guys noticing the same thing?

Even with amazing scores, Canadians arent getting many interviews, its kinda disheartening. Almost every Canadian friends i have are reporting zero interviews, each has above 220s. The only one with interviews is he one who has 240 and 245 ck scores.

Is it just my circle of friends or are u guys noticing the same thing?
Same boat buddy. This year has been weird.

people have matched with one interview.

Yes i agree, someone brought this topic in group of match on fb, she said pd asked her if she could get her j1 from her home country not from canada, she felt program directors has feeling that j1 issue from canada is tough. Sad story especially when canada is not img friendly at all, as if we are trapped here

fewer interviews that last year I agree, but nothing changed regarding J1 statements of need

My thoughts exactly. I went to find any material that matched the claims but nothing came up.

Yup definitely less Canadians receiving interviews. Very depressing time for a lot of my friends.

Default Good Luck

Hello Canadians,

I am not Canadian, but I sincerely wish you all good luck. I know a lot of Canadian classmates with amazing board scores had trouble getting a good number of interviews.

If it helps, I had one Canadian friend who had 1 interview and matched at that program because he rocked the interview.

Keep the faith!

Good luck, again!

Default ji research visa

Hello everyone,

I am an Indian citizen and a Canadian permanent resident. I am applying for j1 visa for research in the States. Any suggestion if I should apply for j1 visa from Canada or from India? which one would be better? I have heard that MCCEE passing rule does not apply anymore. But still not sure.

Anyone who can suggest pros and cons regarding applying for visa from Canada? I intend to apply for 2016 match.

Thanks!
