Default Biostatistician applying for residency

Hello awesome guys ,

I am an old IMG (Year of graduation 2006) and I completed my ECFMG Certificate in August 2014. (My USMLE scores: step 1 (213), step 2 (224) and I passed CS with high performance).

I have Masters of Public Health (Biostatistics and Epidemiology) and I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 2010-2012 when I completed my degree.

Currently I have 2 years work experience as a Biostatistician in Gundersen Health System in Wisconsin. My work includes A LOT of research.

I have finished over 15 research publications including one in JAMA.

BUT, my clinical experience is very limited due to my full time job. I have completed 2 months of shadowing in Gundersen and I have 4 LoR from physicians in here.

I AM APPLYING FOR ALMOST EVERYTHING (Pediatrics, FM, IM and ER) but I am honestly not optimistic about my chances.

My questions are:
1. Is there a chance that I could land an interview in any of these branches?
2. Should I consider applying to Psychiatry or Pathology? Not a big fan of these but I could try!
3. Does adding more shadowing experience help my cause or not?

Thanks for your support

Bravo Al

Apply broadly to FM (as many as you can afford) that is your best chance
