Listening Addition NRMP ID to ERAS application profile after you have applied for the program

Hi colleagues,

Do you actually need to register for NRMP before you apply for residency via ERAS? I did apply for programs via ERAS (September 16 and September 30) first and then later registered at NRMP and included NRMP ID to my ERAS profile (October 1). At the time of application for programs I did specified that I am participating in match, but left field for NRMP ID blank.

ERAS support representative told me that all programs should be notified about any changes in my profile and most programs have already downloaded my updated profile with included NRMP ID. Do I need to worry about it? Should I notify each program by email or via the phone about my updates in person? Do they actually need NRMP ID at all for the invitation for the interview? If they desperately need NRMP ID am I still in good position in terms of timing?

at the official site of http://www.nrmp.org they said that
Announcements:
To register for the Main Residency Match, you must provide the AAMC ID number from your MyERAS application. The NRMP ID, however, can be added to your MyERAS Profile at any time and is NOT required to submit your ERAS application.

But I am still worry about the mistake I made because in some programs they can just download my original application and do not even look to my updates. Especially, if they print all applications on paper. Do you know by the way if programs use mostly electronic version of applications or they prefer to print every single application? In general there are a lot of things in the application process that does not required but you have to do it if you want to be competitive.

I would greatly appreciate your feedback on it and your experience with the application process.

Thank you in advance for participation and help.

Sincerely,

Iakov

I have checked whether programs updated my profile and downloaded it with NRMP ID. Fortunately, 98% of programs updated my profile with NRMP ID in 2 days. I hope everything should be fine, unless they printed all files at the beginning on paper. I called to couple of programs and asked one resident about it and they told me that at this time point they would work only with electronic data base. Every committee member have an access to this data base. They could print anything they want but usually do in on rare occasions.

What was your experience? Does anyone try to find some information about it?

I did the same thing accidentally. I registered but I completely missed adding it to my profile before sending out apps.
Your thread made me realize my mistake, and I added my NRMP reg# to profile.
I think it would get automatically updated to their databases when I update my profile, but I didn't check that anywhere.... :/

ERAS representative told me by phone that the system would sent automatic notification to each program about updates in any application. However it is up to the program to retrieve these updates. You should check in ADTS whether your profile was updated by programs after the addition of NRMP ID. Good luck

I only applied yesterday. Most programs haven't even retrieved my applications yet so.... I guess it'd be alright.
Good luck to you too.

never mind. Figured it out. It was under profile. That was a very unnecessary panic attack. Well, then again, most of them are.

Im studying for step 3, and some days (such as today), its just too damn hard to focus due to lack of invites. So I decided to F it, and declare today as a write-off. Hopefully, tomorrow is a new day and the serotonin levels will rise near the upper limit after a good night's sleep. Running out of things to keep my mind occupied.

I should be studying for step 3...a friend of mine took it this week, and said it's just like 2CK/CS combined so. Good luck Study hard.

I watched Modern Family and big bang theory all day. Sigh.

Why can't they just let us know on the third Wednesday of their application submission how many rejections and IVs we have. I think all of us got used to the anxiety that causes.

Done, and Done... Lol, all caught up. Thinking of giving "how to get away with murder" a shot.

Yeh... i wish there was a less stressful way around this process. What i would like to see changed is, implementing mandatory rejection letters. In this way we'd have an idea of how many programs we realistically have a chance with, instead of having to wonder if they have seen and rejected it, or haven't seen it yet. Blah.
