Question Couple's Match decrease the chances!

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know about couple's match? Will it decrease the chance of being matched? Some people say that if you indicate on your ERAS profile that you want couple's match, most program will not even open your profile.

I am confused and really don't know what to do... I am applying for radiology and my spouse is applying for IM. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance.

Couple's matching has similar chances to single's matching.

Programs are required by the NRMP and the ACGME to facilitate couple's matching and they can't ignore you just for the fact you are applying as a couple.

Thank you Sabio for your reply.

Does the fact that we are going for 2 different specialties affect our chances?

No, different specialties does not affect the chances.

The important thing, is that you get interviews in the same cities, the specialty does not matter.

If you don't get in the same city, then you won't be able to rank as couple in the NRMP.
