Default need honest advice.. low score/multiple attempts..

hi guys
I am a IMG. YOG 2013.
step 1 - 189 1st attempt
step 2 ck - failed in the first attempt, contemplating about taking the second attempt and totally depends on whether it is worth applying with a low step 1 n multiple attempts in ck
cs - first attempt
interested in pediatrics only.
2 months USCE, 2 US LORs
please give in your suggestions on my case. Is it possible to get into a pediatrics program with these credentials? should I repeat ck?
also if yes how would it be advisable to go on from here? what else can be done to improve my CV?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you want. If you're hell bent on going down this road, it is not impossible.
A lot of program had minimum scores of 200 from when I was looking up stuff on freida.
That said, if you can get attached to a uni program through any contacts and do some research, get publications, hands on clinical experience, anything that gets your face to the eyes of the people in the dept, your chances would be higher.
get a 240+ on ck and then get a good score on step 3 as well and i think you'd have a fair shot.
nothing is impossible.

Default Enough with the illusions!

I disagree with the other guy.
You have multiple red flags (low scores, multiple attempts) and your application is likely to be filtered out by programs. Having US letters doesn't even this out. Not having passed CK by itself is a deal breaker for IMGs (if you're thinking about applying in this cycle). My suggestion is to come up with a plan B. I know it's harsh but these forums raise false hopes and people need to realize that.

The only problem I see r ur scores and attempts. But u just graduated 2013, so u have time to patch it up.. I would suggest finish CK fast, get ecfmg certified, research your programs well, some don't have criteria for scores/attempts. Build contacts through observerships/research and apply wisely. In the end its all about contacts for ones who have average or below avg scores.

If you want something bad enough, you have to give it your best shot.
I know of people personally who had attempts and low scores, YOG was few years back also, but he spent a year doing research at the program and had publications. Show your face, get to know people, and he matched.

If you try your hardest, at least you can tell yourself that you tried and it wasn't meant to be. It's not about matching. It's about doing whatever you can possible. I don't care if I match or not, at the end of the day, I can tell myself that this was my best shot and I could not have done anything more. So if it doesn't work after my best try, it's not meant for me.

Mental peace is what it's all about. You have to decide what road you want to follow. Random people on the internet can not decide for you. They can only suggest. You gotta follow your heart and your dreams.

Thank you for your advice guys.. It really means a lot. Ans yes @dr88 i totally agree with u about the fact that in the end u r answerable to urself and nothing else, nobody else in the world matters. U gotta be satisfied. Thank you for being so positive. It does boost the morale!

@artery - thanks for your advice too. As much as being positive n giving ur best matters, it is also imp to know the cons along with the pros..and that is the very reason i asked for an opinion here so that i get to see everyone's viewpoints and experiences before i take a decision.

@jessy - i would need a visa J1/H1B..

Also guys if possible pls tell me the best way to get into research. I tried a lot this year, emailed lots of people but nothing positive happened and then after the ck disaster i just stopped everything for sometime. Do put in ur advice about this too.
