Help Really need HELP..don't know if I can apply?!?!

I really want to apply for the Math this year. I am a 2001 grad, and the chances are already against me so prolonging is only gonna make it worse.
I have my step 1 score (99) and CS (passed on first attempt)..both passed from first trial. I have 3 months USCE, no research..and NO Step 2 CK score...I know !! if I rush step 2 ck , I am afraid I will compromise the score and people keep telling me I can't score less than step 1. It will take me a few months though..... so I badly need real advice here... CAN I APPLY WITH OUT CK SCORE FOR NOW...and hope it updates later.... I mean what are my chances of getting interviews for INTERNAL MEDICINE? I really dont want to waste another year because of a few months I need for CK...I'm already a dinosaur as it is !!!

Default "You're too OLD"... they say.

I have been told time and time again that I am an ancient artifact that needs to be put away in a dusty museum. I have been told that since I am 2001 grad, no program will take me, regardless of my scores and US citizenship. What are my chances do you think of getting into a university-based IM program? Should I apply this year or the next (when I am a year older)?

Thank you...

If you have continued medical experience as residency fellowship or job you might get into a university based program. However in my opinion your chances in general are very good.

I have a 5 year gap since medical practice abroad and my first usmle exam (step 1, this year). I did different rotations as an observer and extern at that time, for most of that time, but they weren't all in IM so I don't know if they count. 1 yr= pulmonology (private clinic), 1 yr= psychiatry (clinic), 2 yr= research assistant (university), 3 months= cardiology (hospital), now signed up for internal medicine externship as well which should be active for the next 6 months. But my CK scores won't probably come in until late January...and I won't be ECFMG certified until February. Is it still wise to apply? will I get interviews with what I have?

IF your CK result will come back before 20 January then apply this year otherwise postpone it for the next year.
