I think they will filter. Any way you can get 1 LOR from home program? LWP makes the process much quicker...people are saying it has 3-4 day turnaround time.

All residency programs require a minimum of three LoRs.

If you have only two LoRs you cannot apply to any program!

Is it ok to submit 4 LORs when they ask for 3 or does that look bad?

I have always heard that when a program asks for 3, that is more of a "minimum" requirement...therefore 4 is better.

what if my 3rd letter is still in the makes because im currently undergoing the observership. Although I have made a slot for that letter, would they consider it? and I mentioned it too in the CAF/CV that I am undergoing an observership as of Sept 1.

Your application might still considered "incomplete", because the coordinator wouldn't look into your CAF or CV to see that you will be submitting an LoR. She'll just see that one of your LoR slots is empty.

I suggest you send them an email or even call them and explain the situation, hopefully, they won't filter you out.

Yes, that's true.
But let me ask you a question.
Your are a program coordinator, you see two applicants.
One with 3 uploaded LoRs. Another with 2 uploaded LoRs and 3rd reserved slot but no LoR.

Which one you'll pick to pass the filter?

oh that's okay. For as long as I know they see a letter coming from a legit board certified doctor from the US, I think it's okay. They wouldn't be reading that letter too. What if they've picked the one with 3 LORS but with not so good credentials from medical school, then that LOR was just a boost in the CV. I think PD's are smarter. Thanks though for the insight.

The issue here is that any application that has glitch is considered incomplete.
They just want to filter as much as they can.
Once they see that there's a slot but not LoR in it, they consider it incomplete.

When we (the staff) give advice here in this forum, our aim is help you guys make the best and most ideal application to maximize your chances into the match. Our aim is NOT to discourage you or put you down.

So I have To wait till the LoRs become available in the ERAS Post Office to apply??
Iīm desperate! I already have two out of 4 and I havenīt applied yet cause 2 LoRs are not available in the ERAS PostOffice.. 1 of them arrived on august 22 the other one on august 26.... But they are not scanned yet.... Does it make any difference if I apply early in september than maybe in the middle or 20īs of september?

If i didnt have my 3rd LoR uploaded on Sept 1, but now it is and some programs have downloaded it, does that mean I have NOT been filtered out from these programs since they have downloaded my 3rd LoR and are still considering me?

Also for the programs that have NOT downloaded my 3rd LoR, would this mean I have been filtered out by these programs because my 3rd LoR wasn't available on Sept 1 at the time I applied??

Is tricky right? I spoke with the guys in ERAS and they toldme that the programs expect the application to be a gradual process. So I apply, The sooner the better according to what iĻve been reading...

I emailed all the programs i applied to regarding the situation. A program specifically said " we don't expect applications to be complete at this time... we update our data everyday, so don't worry about it".. the other programs said the same thing but in a different way, so somehow i felt relieved, because they all said they don't expect the docs to be complete especially when the usmle scores are not yet available (i don't know though what step they were referring to when they said that).

I got 2 eras notifications that my applications were received and that i will get a response in 4 weeks time if the selection committee wants to interview me.

I didnt know that, i was just concerned about the situation, i emailed them because i know calling them would just annoy them considering they would be busy, let me tell you they were nice in the email, even saying "thank you for informing us.." etc. And my friend told me, at this time, theyd usually put us on the answering machine, i just didnt want to deal with that. Its up to you, i did it to ease my worry of them not being informed of the situation. Im really worried too man, but id take their word for it that they will review your application once completed, and not exclude you blatantly.

Hi
I could be in a similar situation too.
I would like to know what is the usual number of LORs applicants upload? Is it advisable to have many as possible and then upload all ?
or just pick any 3 strictly? (though I dont have any as yet!)
