Star step1 score 212 :( very depressed

I got my Step1 score 2 weeks ago and was in complete shock for past 2 weeks. Finally, gathered my strength to seek help.

I am an IMG (Caribbean Med school) who studied for 6 months. My nbmes were all in 220s-230s range. I do not know what happened.

I want to rectify my mistakes and make up for my low scores (212). I have more pressure now to do well on Step2, good LORs, do research, USCE, etc. Visa needed. Do not have contacts either. What are my chances for FM/IM/Neurology/Peds/Obygyn? Please be honest and guide me if you can.

I am looking for any motivational stories or miracles where people were able to match. Any guidance, tips, suggestions would be helpful. I need to read and hear more success stories to stay positive.

Please help and if you are in a similar situation, let's start a group to help each other out, stay positive, patient, and motivated!

1.) Relax
2.) Know that there are tons of people who matched with your scores. Dont believe me? Check out the ECFMG reports on the NMRP site.
3.) I got 240s on my nbme and scored much much lower on the actual exam. It happens.

What u need to do is figure out why you scored low. Use this as an opportunity to make u work harder than ever in clinical years. When your friends are out having fun, you are reading kaplan internal medicine and that is fine. I have plenty of friends who scored below 210 and ended up with +230 on step 2 ck. Its 100% possible.

Nothing is lost. U have everything to gain and nothing to lose. U can still make things right by getting +235 on your step 2 ck. U accomplish that and now suddenly u have an amazing story to tell in your application/interview. Also f*ck step 1, that exam doesnt matter, Step 2 and Step 3 show your real clinical knowledge. Go kill it.

I agree with you 100%. It is just that now I have a lot of pressure to do well on STEP2 and 3. I studied a lot and would have extended the date if I felt like I was not ready. Even after the exam, I was sure of 220+. I guess it was just my bad luck.

I just need to do really well in STEP2 CK/CS. Thank you so much for encouraging me and giving me hope! Good luck on your match!
