Those are a lot of GREAT programs, congrats.

Is that the main UPenn program?

if so, i think that would be n1

It's not the main UPenn, I wish! Thanks! Any idea how to rank them or put them into tiers at least, or maybe let me know what my top 5 would be?

First, congrats on those interviews
Second, don't just focus on the names or the program itself, think about where do you want to live, and what do you want to do after residency, and how each of these will help you get there

Thanks for taking the time to ask a friend! Let me know how I can return the favor
I didn't know Buffalo was that high up. The place was 99% IMGs!

First of all, congrats on getting so many interviews from excellent programs with great reputations.

I honestly believe you should go to a program that YOU would be HAPPY at for the next 3 years and would propel you towards your goal after residency (e.g. fellowship at so-and-so, hospitalist job near the residency or place-of-choice, etc).

If you go to place with excellent prestige and ...of course... opportunities, but are f-ing miserable there because everyone at that program is looking out for themselves, cut throat, will throw you under the bus, and the attendings are full of themselves to the point of arrogance ....

then move on son.

Good luck!

I can't agree more with you . I honestly don't know much about these programs . But that's a very important point . Always remember . Sometimes , programs with excellent ranking try to keep their reputation no matter what it takes.. so their provide good patient care but their employees are not happy . and they only care about their rating !! So you should go with the one that felt the right for u at first!!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's just hard to pick a program which gives you great opportunities for fellowship of choice vs. a program that you'd feel more comfortable in.

How would you rank these programs? Would I be crazy to rank Methodist at the top even though it's not a university program?

Albert Einstein-Jacobi
Methodist-Houston
Lahey Clinic
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
U at Buffalo

Personally I loved my experience at houston and will most likely Stick it in my top 3. They had a very strong fellowship match as well.

Thanks that helps a lot. I thought I was crazy by ranking it over university programs!

Methodist is great hospital and I really liked the residents there, if sticking w/ J1 is not a problem for you, I'd rank them first. Rutgers' located in a nasty city, their program is ok-ish and their PD is cool.. I didn't like Jacobi at all, the hospital is OK, but the PD is really weird and during my IV he pretended to be a patient w/ CP -la Step 2CS.. Also, NYC ancillary staff sucks! Can't comment about Buffalo or Lahey, but based on location I'd rank Lahey>Buffalo. Therefore, not taking VISA into consideration, I'd rank:
1. Methodist
2. Rutgers
3. Lahey
4. Buffalo
5. Jacobi

From what I understood, from people that know the PD of jacobi, he's kinda like a medicine enthusiast.

He would do the cases even if you were an AMG, so don't get offended by that. That's just how he is, weird.

Some other places do clinical cases like that but they are basically IMG-shaming you.

Personally I didn't interview with him but I was warned beforehand that's how he is. My interview was 100% chill and had no clinical questions whatsoever.
