Failing both step 1 and CS would be a problem. Many program require 1st attempt in all step including (few require) step 3 if taken . your friend require high CK and step 3 score also require very good USCE , strong US Lor and finally to get some connection.

I guess, it depends on many factors. Most programs will just filter him out, but then if he tries again and gets a high score, he may still have a chance, although not in a competitive field. And it may take him several matches to find a place. Sorry for your friend

it will not be worth it to go after such results - a lot of money energy and hopes of your friend might get dashed. the only possiblity i see is getting scores >260 in step II and III and then personally following up with programs + USCE. but it would be very difficult to score so high.

sorry to hear abt ur friend. yes, it might get really tough for him , he wud benefit from getting really gud scores on ck and step 3 and doing USCE at hospitals where he stands a realistic chance ,building connections there and try to get into those same programs, coz on a general basis , he might get filtered out of a lot of programs.

Applicants who have failed Step 1 and CS exams have tremendous difficulties in finding residency position.

Your friend should aim to pass Step 1 (second attempt) and Step 2 CK with high scores, he should also try to get USCE and good US LoR in an effort to ameliorate the effect of exam failure.

Consider carefully cos it's going to be expensive with no guarantee of success.

It's getting harder and harder each year even for ppl with 99/99/cs1st attempt. With more AMGs, DOs graduating each year while residency spots remaining the same, one can imagine that the competition among IMGs for a reduced number of spots will be very intense.
