ill tell you one honest thing,
i have seen ppl with 245 not get im and even ppl with 225 get in.
so, although step 1 scores are very important, usce, gc/visa, contacts, research, marks, resume and luck, patience, efforts, hardwork, all play an important role.
if you think you have good enough of all the others. go ahead and give your exam.
but if you think you are weak in the above mentioned things, then you should postpone your exam until you get a decent score.

If u still have time in ur eligibility period, y dont u postpone ur exams and work on the subjects which ur weak in?

Of course contacts,USCE,research, etc matter too but step scores are most important..so y do u wanna compromise on it?
