Question Medical education extended or interupted???

I really need your opinion on this because I don't know what to choose....

On ERAS application there is a question under the Application/Misc. tab......Was your medical education/training extended or interrupted?

My situation: I attend the medical school from 1999 to 2005, passing all the exams on time; in my country, after you finish a medical school, you have to take one final exam(license exam) in order to receive your medical diploma; as long as you don't have any kind exams which you were not able to pass until finishing all the classes, you can take this license exam anytime yo want in a 5 year period after finishing/passing all the medical exam. Most of us take this license exam in the same year....due to some personal reasons, I decited to take it in february 2007(licence exam can be taken twice a year, in november and february).

Since I attend the school from 1999 until 2005 but I graduated in 2007, what should I answer to this question: Was your medical education/training extended or interrupted?

What do they mean by medical education for my case? in this education is the license exam included???

Thanks to anybody who's willing to help me.....

Did you receive your final medical school diploma and final medical school transcript before taking that licensing exam?

Thank you so much Sabio for the reply.....We don't receive our medical diploma until we pass that final license exam, even though this license exam does not have any kind of credits.....it is just one last thing what they like to do before we could get the diploma

to answer your question: I receive my diploma 1 month after passing that license exam(took the exam in february 2007 and received it in march)....as a university policy, we receive the medical transcripts in the same time with our medical diploma; so I received my medical diploma and medical transcripts in 2007.....

one more time thank you for taking the time to write me back and look forward hearing from you!

So what's the date of issue on your Diploma and transcript?

What are you going to answer when ECFMG asks you start year and end year of your medical education?

If you are going to say 1999-2005 then they'll wonder why your Diploma was issued in 2007!

If you are going to say 1999-2007 then you have to mention the two years (2005-2007) interruption in your medical curriculum.

What are you going to answer when ECFMG asks you start year and end year of your medical education? I choosed 1999 until 2005 as start and end of my medical training period; this was the time when I was in hospitals doing clinical rotations; ECFMG already checked my credentials and there are no problems with ECFMG regarding this problem(I hope not)

If you are going to say 1999-2005 then they'll wonder why your Diploma was issued in 2007! I went to school from 99 until 05; I pass all the exams by july 2005 just like my other colleagues; the only difference is that I took the license exam in 2007, not in 2005 like most of my colleagues; as a consequence, in my country I am consider to be a 2007 graduate with the mention that I finish classes in 2005;

I know this is very strange, but I thought you might saw a similar case before and somebody could help me.....

If you are going to say 1999-2007 then you have to mention the two years (2005-2007) interruption in your medical curriculum. I can't choose this option because I did not attend the medical school until 2007; my classes were done by july 2005.

Bump!

I have a similar question. In my country there isn't a designated undergrad, grad school separation, it's all done as one; you matriculate as a med student and it all goes from there. However, even to receive loans you are considered a grad student once you actually enter the school of medicine (i.e., you start taking classes and courses only for medical students and not common courses between dental, vets, etc.).

I finished that "undergrad-like" training in one school, took a 3 year break and entered "medical school" at a different university. However, my medical school training was not interrupted, it was completed within the time frame established. In fact, many US students with a BS would enter medical school at that same time. Does my interruption even count as an interruption for this question on ERAS even though my country doesn't clearly designate undergrad/grad levels?

Thanks.

i remained in medical school for 8 years along with my whole class.
my first professional exam was conducted after 3 years.
after that all exams were each year.

the reason was legal issues between my university and govt.

what to do.
i was enrolled continuously through these years.no leaves of absence or breaks.keep attending classes and undergoing internal assessment.
questions are
1; should i check mark yes on " medical education interupted or extended.
2;if yes then what explanation should i give.
3;should i ask my medical school to mention the circumstances in my mspe.
i have decided not to mention it in my personal statement.

my mspe clearly states that no gaps , breaks or leaves of absences in education.
but in my transcript ,year of admission is 2002 and graduation is 2010.
first prof held in 2006.
please tell me what to do ,,, really worried

You should check mark on "education extended or interrupted " as it will help you to find out your problem and you can get also the solution if you do so.So I just wanna advice you to do it although you are not absent from class.Thanks. BUt remember that if you do so it is your beneficial.Otherwise as your choice.
