Help What shoud we wear in the interview?

An off-topic question but I'm curious since it's going to be my first job interview ever; for males, what should we wear during the interview? A full classic suit or...? Keep in mind the interview season is going to be in the winter.

I'd appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

Wear whatever the president of USA wears - that's a good rule to go by for interviews. A red or blue tie, white shirt, black pants, black suit jacket. Look clean, fresh, comfortable, and confident.

Not at all. Too formal would be if you showed up in a tuxedo!

Thanks a lot waqqas.

I'd like to hear more opinions though. What do you think guys?

Is it ok if I wear colors other than black, like a brown jacket over grey trousers. Something like that.

At your stage it's the least important thing to think about, but for me now it's the only thing left to think about!

Good luck in your journey!

What about women's outfit? we have so many options that in the end we have no option at all! you don't want to look too sexy but you don't want to look like a men neither!! what if you find a dress that fits perfectly and the interviewers find you're showing much legs or the dress color looks annoying on you and predisposes one of the interviewers!!!! THAT'S difficult... i'd like women to give some advices in this post too... thanks

I completely agree with what waqqashanafi said. In the US, it's the most proper attire for a professional job interview (even down to the blue or red tie). While any color tie can be worn, blue/red are considered the most professional. As far as woman go, if wearing a skirt or dress, shoulders should be covered, NO cleavage of any kind, and length should be below your fingertips or knee length at a minimum. Anything shorter than that is unprofessional. Black or navy blue are the best color options and most preferred at professional interviews. A business suit is always a good option as well for women. Perfume must be kept to a minimum and jewelry tasteful and not overloaded. (This info comes from my wife, who has been a hiring manager for 9 years in the states for professional/corporate companies.)

for interviews in the east coast where it will be very cold, can you wear a coat over your suit??? or maybe a sweater over your dress shirt under the suit jacket??? or do you just man up and go to the interviews in a plain suit without any sweater/coat???

Of course you have to wear a heavy coat over the suit jacket or you'll literally freeze! May be when you meet the secretary she'll ask you (or you ask her) to keep the coat somewhere.
