Help ECFMG certification at the time of ERAS application..

hi!

I am in a desperate need to find out if ecfmg certification is required for application. A lot of colleges say on their website that they require it by match or ROL. Now I am not sure what to do..I have all my scores but am not certified coz my college screwed up the verification. It could take a while. I have mixed reactions from every where. some say i'll get filtered out some say applying late will get me no interviews..

Any one who knows anything in this regard plz help me. Especially the form administrators!

Many residency programs (not all of them) require that you are ECFMG certified before they consider you for an interview, this means these programs won't send you interviews.

Applying late (after late September or maximum early October) also will make your chances very low in getting interviews.

So even if the guy has step1, 2 and CS; he will be screen out?!! that doesn't make sense!! It's just a matter of time and he'll be certified. Those people are taking it too bureaucratic now.

Passing all the steps does not automatically mean that you are ECFMG certified. There have been instances in the past where IMGs were not able to get the certificate due to issues in medical education credentials.
Therefore, residency programs are now more sensitive about this issue.

But, let me repeat, what I said in my first post here;
Many residency programs (but not all of them) require ECFMG certificate before the interview.

I'm on similar page here, but instead I won't be receiving my CK score until late Sept, and thus, ECFMG certificate until October. I'm considering applying early to programs that don't require a complete application.

Now, I was wondering, given the special situation this year with CK score delay, wouldn't programs waive the need of the "complete application" requirement?. ECFMG stated that Program Directors will be informed about the score delay.

Would it be wise to contact each program requiring a "complete application" and asking them if we could still apply and not get automatically rejected?

I e-mailed 2 programs about this and they both said that you don't need to have it in hand at the time of application. My situation is that I graduate in December and will have all my steps out of the way but no verification of medical credentials until Feb. They all said that it wasn't a problem and they both have the ECFMG certification checked in FRIEDA so I think you that have to be ECFMG verified rather than certified. Hope this helps...

i am sorry but i am little bit confused , i am done with the steps and the last score was in the 17th of this month , my verification is okay , and yet ECFMG certificate is not issued according to the OASIS , 6 days to the 1st of sept. ,, and most of the programs require being certified by the time they chose applicant for the interview , is there any thing that i can make , and why this delay and why some people do not get certified for long time although they have passed the steps ??? please i started to freak out because of that

You'll get it before September first, don't worry.

There's no special situation this year.
Last year, it was the same, CK scores got delayed and my friends who did not have CK score early in September did not get interviews.
My friend, there are thousands and thousands of applicants who will be ECFMG certified by September first and they'll get the interviews.

Well, I'm screwed then... Thanks for the input.
Would you happen to know to how many programs did your friends applied? in other words, did they applied broadly? Also, a general idea of your friends profiles? Just to have an idea.

Go to your ERAS account and in the profile section say that you are ECFMG certified and enter the date of issue.

Default not certified yet

I'm in a different predicament here. I have passed step 1 and step 2 CK and I have already graduated medical school so my medical education credentials have already been verified on the ecfmg status report. However, I have yet to give my step 2 CS.
I was wondering how would this situation affect my chances on getting interviews?
