Question Observership in ERAS

I know this topic has been discussed before.....I read some threads about it but I am still wonder what is the best thing to do about it.....

In the forum it says that we should put observership under working tab.....I also saw a topic where is says that, since you don't get paid for it, you should not put it as work and we should place it under volunteer tab; I also saw a post saying: put observership as work and on the title write you were observer......

I also noticed that many PD's get nervous about putting observership as work, since you did not get paid.....the question is where to place it????

If anybody has a good idea, please post it.

Thank you!

Default I prefer to put it as work experience.

There's no rule about this.

You can put it as work or as volunteer.

I prefer you put it as work since it will indicate your USCE.

Observership, although not paid, but it fits as a work experience more than as volunteering.

Clinical attachments, shadowing, observership, all for the purpose of getting clinical experience would fit into work experience more.

When I applied, I entered the observerships that I did as work experience, I did not put it as volunteering and I was successful in the match.

I don't think program directors would hate it if you put your observership as work experience, they know very well that IMGs options are very limited.

i dont agree as i think you aren't allowed to work in US without proper working permit or work authorization i think that it fits more as volunteer

Afraid to be penalised!

U r right in saying that Observership is not, strictly speaking, work because it's not paid...
