Default How are my chances?

I am indian IMG living in Canada for almost 2 years. Completed my graduation in December 2012 and moved here in April 2013. I have taken step 1 and ck, got 249 and 241.
I am planning to take cs in a couple of months and some U.S. observership along with.
I have this 2 year gap in my cv and it gives me nightmares. I tried a lot to find some research volunteer opportunity or volunteer opportunity otherwise in local hospital in my area but wasn't successful.
I have had lots of financial woes ever since I came here, I worked odd jobs to support myself and studied for steps. I am going to apply for 2015-16 match and I want to know how are my chances for IM. can someone guide me how should I move forward from here? Thank you..

i think you have a chance but as many people apply do not expect to have a lot of interviews . try to do more usce to improve your chance .
once again no one can predict chances. try your best.
i wish you good luck.

Your step 1 score is good and your YOG is good too. What is your visa status if you don't mind me asking??

I do have US b1/b2 visa, means I can travel to USA and stay there upto 6 months. But financial concerns held me back because I wasn't ready to shell out my hard earned money till I get through step 2 ck. I am planning for CK and some USCE in coming months and apply for residency, hopefully will secure some interviews. Btw, thanks all for replying, your support means a lot.. Keeping fingers crossed!!

I think you mean you're planning for CS. Get through that on the first attempt and do step 3 and I think you'll be fine. I have a friend with 233/240 who got 4 interviews without step 3. You should get more than that. I know how hard it is to go out on a limb and risk all your savings. Good luck and keep at it.
