I applied this year for the 2015 match in psychiatry and only got one interview, that only because of a recommendation. The resident is really good friends with me and was present during my IV. Currently I am doing research. What do you guys think my chances of matching are? I am just really stressed out and want the reality so I can start preparing myself for the outcome.
Are you aiming for Medstar hospital Georgetown?
from my experience in applying this year for psychiatry they put less weight on Steps and value research very much, I have a friend who applied this year with a low score on step 1 and passed cs and failed ck and got him self 2 interviews, but he is doing an outstanding research performance, with that being said psychiatry programs care about genuine interest proven with either previous clinical experience or research. they don't want applicants that apply for it as a backup or for visa purposes.
Will you Match or not ? thats for time to answer.
if not do a perfect job on your current experience and gain more connections hopefully you will match
