Default Quetions for a PSYCH Resident in NYC

Can anyone recommend any good observerships or residencies to apply to in NYC? Any hospitals to stay away from? Also, did you find Psychiatry to be competitive? What is the deadline for applying for residencies?

I am an IMG from Canada, completely clueless about the application system here- any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ingrid

New York is Huge more than 23 psych programs in NYC alone, they range from Cornell, Colombia, NYU level to Bronx Lebanon.
Psych is competitive if your CV doesn't show genuine interest in the field.
No clear deadline to apply, but by simple logic applying after November would cost you to lose very much in terms of invitations.
my recommendation to you, do great on your exams, get STRONG LOR, do observerships, Research would boost your CV.

Good luck
