Default Switch from J2 visa to J1 visa without going back home?

Hi guys..

I am wondering if any of you know or have any experience changing visa status within the US (not going back to home country)?

You can do it through your sponsor, they will extend your sevis number, but if you leave the country you need to reapply for an entry visa .
