Default Crazy ranking

Hey guys,

Is it possible to rank programs that I did not interview at .
I am defying the match rules by trying to say: Rank your interviews then add more places after you rank your interviews. Its stupid, dum but you never know, what if NRMP makes a mistake and you could get match in another world because NRMP allows me to add more programs that I did not even interview at

its possible to rank places you didnt interview but the chances of them ranking you are astronomically low...

There is actually zero chance and it also messes up the statistical data in the yearly match report. This is why we see people with 20+ interviews going unmatched every year in the report.

Of course you can rank places you didn't interview at. You can rank programs whoever YOU CHOOSE.

Damn that's a very plausible reason for the NRMP stats to show that! Do you have a source to back this up, or is it just an opinion?

I'm sold either way.

Just my opinion..but i am pretty sure it works that way...its an automated report so if I rank 20 random programs and not match it should show it no?

Default ranking a prematch program!

I've interviewed at a program that offers Prematch only! Its status on NRMP shows as Withdrawn! Nevertheless, I have still included this program in my ROL list!! just for the pleasure of seeing my whole interviews on the list! Could that harm my Matching process by any mean? I mean could this cause a confusion for the ranking/Matching system??? thanks

No it shouldn't.

Every program is taken individually. If one program is full or unavailavle the computer will just move the next one.

Just make sure your credentials are valid and your list is certified

My friend is doing the same. If she gets residency its worth a thread post.

I did not do it. I ended up ranking my interview programs only. No body recommended me to do it. So I did not risk it

Ya my friend has zero interviews so she's ranking a bunch of programs. She feels she has nothing to lose.

I agree that this can only mess up the NRMP statistics.

Its literally pointless. If programs simply rank candidates they didn't interview, what would be the point of having a SOAP type process.

I agree with you 100%. But when someone receives zero invites it leads to desperation. Desperation leads to trying anything that gives an ounce of hope. That's what I make of it.

As soon as they put in a system that only allows you to rank the programs you've interviewed with, the statistics will DRAMATICALLY change

did u guys take the nrmp survey?
it specifically asks if u ranked any programs u didnt interview at.. so i think they do factor that in the final tally.
