Default Indian img's plzzz help !! Plz tell me how to calculate my yrs since graduation

HI I NEED HELP FROM AN INDIAN IMG TO CALCULATE MY YRS SINCE GRADUATION. EVERY COUNTRY HAS DIFFERENT LENGTH OF MEDICAL SCHOOL YRS SO PLZ AN INDIAN IMG HELP ME

Im preparing to complete all my 3 steps by September 2016, that means will be hoping to get selected in 2017 for internal medicine. I gave my final exams on June 2012, got a certificate stating that I passed final year dated July 2012. Started my internship and finished internship on August 2013. Got a certificate stating that I completed MBBS (4 and half yrs plus 1 yr compulsory internship) dated OCTOBER 2013.

I HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS
1. what is my year of graduation ? (june/july 2012 when i cleared final exams or august/october 2013 when i completed internship.

2. I want to apply to get selected for 2017 i.e. completed all my steps by september 2016. My year since graduation will be calculated till 2016 (when I applied) or 2017 (when i appear for interviews/selection etc) ?

3. How many years will be since I graduated according to USMLE system ?

4. I heard something about most colleges taking fresh graduates with less than 4/5 years since year of graduation. Am I still applicable to fit into that or do I belong to the category of exceeding that time ?

5. Does my graduating in the middle of the year (Final exam July, Internship completed August ) make any difference in the calculation of number of years ? Most ppl graduate in the beginning of the year as per Indian MBBS colleges.

6. I also took 1 yr off after school to get into medical college. I am dec 1988 born. When I go for interviews in 2017 ill be 28 yrs old (will turn 29 in dec 2017)
Will my age make a difference. What age is the usual resident ?

PLZ PLZ answer my 6 questions. Im realllyyy scared I can't give the USMLE due to my age/ year of graduation.

Man your taking it wrongly, no one cares about your age, youre almost a fresh grad just finish your exams and ace them.

btw I applied this year with more than 5 years out of school and got more than 10 interviews.

PLZ PLZ answer my 6 questions. Im realllyyy scared I can't give the USMLE due to my age/ year of graduation.
To answer your questions:

1. Year of graduation is the year when you have finished your medical studies and received your diploma. For example, I gave my final licensing exams in September 2014, this is what i put as my graduation date. In your case, your YOG would be 2012.

2. Your year of graduation will be counted at the moment you apply for the match, that is if you intend to apply in 2016 for the 2017 match, and having taken into the account that you graduated in 2012, you will be 4 years post medical school.

3. 4

4. While fresh graduates are preferred, it is not always the case. In addition, many programs have different YOG cut-offs, ranging from 2 to 5 to 10. You can become more familiar with that by searching the programs individually.

5. It makes no difference I believe.

6. The age is not a factor. There are people that get into residency and they are 40. What concerns the US programs the most is not to have any gaps in training since graduation. If you were active in medical field until and throughout your match application, you should be just fine.

Don't worry so much about these details. Do well on your USMLE's, get good experience and recommendation letters.

Good luck.

If u don't mind asking what are your scores / USCE / Publications ?

which specialty are you going into?
Get as much USCE as possible, while it may not be necessary, it is a big plus for you as a candidate. Who knows what will happen to the match in 2017, it could be the same, or it could be even more competitive. All i know is that more and more candidates are applying every year. To be competitive, stay in the 240+ range.

Your YOG will be 2013 and not 2012. For Indian IMG's end of internship is taken as year of graduation and not when you take your final year exams.

Year of Graduation is the year when you get your final degree/ permanent degree. And you only get it after you have passed MBBS and completed 1 yr of internship. Irrespective of when you took final year exam your YOG is what is printed on your final permanent degree; which in your case is 2013. So, your YOG is 2013.

Default Checked my degree

I checked my degree right now it says the following -

[My Name] has passed the MBBS degree examination held in June 2012. The said degree has been conferred on him at the convocation held on April 2014.

The thing that has been bothering me is that I flunked in my final yr in surgery that is why my internship started mid yr (Aug 2012). So although I finished my internship in a yr (Sep 2013) the convocation takes place only once a yr that is why I had to wait till April 2014. Now if u see the time difference between my final exam and convocation becomes 2 yrs instead of regular 1 yr. This is what is scaring me.

Is my YoG still 2014 if u consider that in mind ?

your YOG is 2014 then; whatever is written on your permanent degree is final. When you completed your internship/ final exams doesnt matter. What matter is your final degree and what year it says. Good for you 2014 is way better, you are almost a fresh graduate.

your YOG is whats written on your degree certificate i.e the one you get AFTER completing your internship irrespective of when you gave your final yr exams or cleared them.

You graduated in April, 2014. Your YoG is 2014. Period.

step 1: look at your medical degree
step 2: what year is written on your degree
That is your year of graduation.

Basically the timeline is -

Passed final year - June 2012

1 yr Internship completion certificate - Oct 2013

My final degree states, "[My Name] has passed the MBBS degree examination held in June 2012. The said degree has been conferred on him at the convocation held on April 2014".

I completed my MBBS from India from MGM University. Yes we only get the final degree ONLY AFTER completion of 1 yr compulsory internship.
