Default certified surgeon in my country, chances of getting USA board certification without doing residency ?

hey guys

my uncle is a board certified surgeon in the UK , he wants to work in america .. in order to get his usa board certification .. does he need to do all the residency years .. or just an exam ?

Yep. There's no other way to be board certified in USA than taking residency.

He will need to take the USMLE steps and repeat the residency unfortunately. Another option is to apply for fellowship only (after taking all the steps), but I think this is changing. Anyway, with fellowship without residency he is not going to be board certified and there will be only a few places that will hire him.
