Default low step 1 score

Hello guys,
I got my step1 score and it was 220, really disappointing. I am an IMG.
With couple publications and research elective in US. No hands on experience. I am not able to study for further steps as I am losing my hopes.
Do I have good chances to get a residency in IM!

I don't think its VERY LOW, I think you're exaggerating , I know friends this year got 9 IV in IM with a similar score.

Yazz..I am not exaggerating. I just havent met people with score around mine. Every1 kind of tells me to have a backup plan.

The friend of yours who got IV were IMG's?

Yes IMG's, with minimum of 3 years out of school. Just ace CK above 240 you will be fine,

Your score is good especially if you don't need visa and recent YOG.

You'll be fine, keep studying for the other steps.
We've seen so many different stories on here about people with so called "low scores" matching.
Don't lose hope! Chin up and keep going!

U may not have a high step 1 score but u have a good score and its competitive enough for IM. Have u taken a look at the scores of those who matched this year? U shld if u haven't. Someone matched with a 197, an IMG yes. Arise from your pity party, Keep pressing on and attack the boards u have left, get ur stuffs together and apply to IM.

Do I have good chances to get a residency in IM!

Hi everyone!... I'm a new member glad to be part of this forum

Hey, I am in the same boat as u.... AND i completely understand how u feel bout your score i got a 216 I'm also trying to get in IM!!!
I got my score bout a month ago & I had a lot of mix feelings I was kind of happy but concerned, because as an IMG "everyone" tells u that everything depends on that grade, so I was like OMG WHAT THE HEAVEN am i gonna do next??? My uworld scores, or nbmes overpredicted like a looot my grade; in fact the real exam with this new format was 3 times harder than nbme 17, And indeed i did not had any energy, motivation or whatsoever to continue studying at that time. Right now I'm still get those feelings of sadness but I try to ignore them

So I totally 100% "feel u buddy" I realized its been a while since this post so Idk what are u doing right know , but let me tell u something: know what is worst that not filling the expectation, not scoring high or getting a "low score" : NOT TRYING IS EVEN WORST.... so cheer up my collegue ..at least we are on the run... I figured it out that instead of crying and complaining about life, bad luck and my grad the best thing to do was to start studying and to ask around what I need to do NOW to overcome that grade!.
Come On and cheer up, If u are currently undecided bout what to do with ur future or if u already gave up ..I urge U to take back your dream and the pursuit of it
Just like the song says : "ah ah ah we're stayiiiing aliveee"
I know a program director for international students, she helps u to get good rotations ... if u are interested just give me ur email and ill send u the information.

Now If u allow me .. i would also like to "present my case to this forum" (lol)
I am also an IMG (visa status: J1) step 1 score 216.
2 papers published in good journals , 1 poster presented in an international meeting and one abstract presented as an oral high yield session . Graduated with honors (my medical diploma just arrived this april 2015). and Idk if this helps but I was part of the committee that represented the school of medicine in the university; now since this summer I'm part of the ex alumni committee and the university named me an "outstanding ex alumni" (idk why LOL )I did rotations in the US for 10 months (observerships :/), Every doctor gave me a great evaluation and some offer me LORs (i just need to visit/call them to updated the lors). I know observership does not count as much or at all but well is what i have for now, But I am planning to travel to US next year to get real experience and update my lors or get lors only from IM doctors....

The reason that I'm pointing out this things in my CV is just to know where am i standing AND what is important, what is not, what is bs, what i need to add.......... I don't wanna sound like too confident cause trust me I am not AT ALL (I'm scare as hell lol)) but I decided to keep trying the worst that can happen is that i don't get a good grade in step2ck or I dont match.....
Then I will have to try to find my way to become a IM doctor in my country.

Having "said" that......First of all do u think i have ANY chance to match for IM??????????
and what else do u guys recomend to improve my CV???
I have some protocols pending and with very good chances to get them published. Would it help if i get good rotations with IM doctors that have some influence on the hospital's boards????
and the most important point of all ..........what resources are good for studying for step 2ck???? I am currently reading MTB2, saving some money for the kaplan HY lectures and for UWORLD

I thank u so much in advanced
I really appreciate any comment and i do not take anything personal... I LOVE HONESTY

My step 1 on March 2015 was 214..

Ck on Aug 2015 was 242..

U can move on & just focus on CK.

I deal with this one exam at a time.

Granted i applied 4 days ago with pending CS scores.
I may not get any Ivs at all but i just couldnt passup this years opportunity, my YOG is 2006 which sux.

I am hoping my GC, previous IM training, & CK242 helps.

I didn't do this for step 1 but for step2 CK I took apart my MTB2 and put in a binder.
then I annotated Uworld, Kaplan vids into my binder. I also some stuffs from first aid.

So all in all my binder consisted of MTB2 plus the annotations from ffgs:
1. uworld 80+ completed, annotated topics relevant to what me
2. Kaplan vids, I picked my topics
3. Fischer 20 cases'
4. Some first aid topics, used the IOS app which was indexed

I read the binder for 2 days before NBMEs & UWSA.

10+ FM programs (most programs filter me out coz of year of grad)

220 not a terribly low score..
its lowish compared to mean score,
but people do get matched.

just work on research, clerkships, higher step2 scores,
just have to work in other areas.
