Default Letter of recommendation

Hey guys,

Is it a requirement to submit reference letters from physicians that we have worked with less than a year ago? or we can use letters from back in medical school which is more than one year ago?

I am a Canadian medical graduate and all of my LORs are from Canadian physicians. But they were written in 2013. My question is "can we use those Canadian LORs from 2013? or do i need newer letters?"

During the application to ERAS you will have two choices to upload your letter:
1- You will upload the letter by yourself - non waived letter-
2- The letter will be uploaded by your letter writer - waived letter - which is better of course.

Now regarding your question, ERAS does not mind any date of your letter, you can upload old letters, but individual programs may have some requirements and may require new letters not more than one year old.

Letters are very important part of your application, recent, strong, waived letter will have more weight than old non waived letter.

Thanks. That answers my questions. When I checked the websites of the programs, it seems like only a few programs requires letters which are less than one year old, so that is promising for me Thank you.
