Default Long Gap ...Help

Hello fellow forum members,

Credentials:
230s/230s/pass/2010/US Citizen/1 month Observership in 2013 at Univ. Hosp.

I haven't been doing any clinical work in America because it's impossible to find especially in the city where I live for numerous reasons. I have clinical gaps but no gaps in my CV since I've been actively working for a living as an interpreter (medical).

Will I have a hard time securing interviews or matching for Match 2016?

I realize that this question is out of anyone's hand to answer. But I wish to hear any input or opinion. Thank you all.

I had gaps in between my clinical rotations, sometimes 1-2 months long but I was never asked about it during my interviews. You graduated 5 years ago though, and your last observership was 2 years ago so they'll want to know what you've been doing since then. Unfortunately, I don't think that being a medical interpreter will be considered clinically relevant. Your scores are good but I think it's in your best interest to do an observership where they'll consider you for an interview and give you a new LOR.

Default VERY Long Gap

Hello Forum Members,

I am and IMG.
I need advice and input from you all. I have had a long long gap since i graduated from Medical College ( 2000 ). My family circumstances were such that i could not give my USMLE Steps till date. However as things have eased out i feel i should give a shot at getting a residency. I do have Family here who are IMG'S but much senior..and they keep motivating me not to bother on these issues as my aunt actually gave her USMLE very late in her life and managed her residency. Do you feel i should give a chance at it while i take some Clinical Experience here or is it preferable for me to do a PhD in a clinical subfield.

I would really appreciate any feedback/ guidance/ advice on this front.

Thanks a lot !
