Help Timing of interviews?

Hi all. For those of us who do not have a residence in the US, we all know that we should try to get interview dates close together to save costs of housing. However, it's a harder task than it seems. Some programs offer only extreme dates; either so early or so late. I found out that most programs do no interview between Dec 25 and Jan 10. My question here: is it advisable to schedule the all the interviews before Dec 25 or after Jan 10? Would it be wiser to skip the Christmas/New Year holidays altogether to save housing costs, traffic, and the need to stay in hotels in that period for interviews in Jan?

I'd appreciate your insight.

Thank you.
