Writing a unique personal statement is one of the milestones toward getting a match.

This task can be specially challenging for IMGs who might not have a great English language skills or even if they have they may still don't know what to write in a residency personal statement.

We have few guidelines to get you started here
http://www.usmle-forums.com/usmle-articles/1527-how-write-your-personal-statement.html

However, the purpose of this poll and thread is to rate the best residency personal statement writing companies that help candidates writing their PS in return for a fee.

Please reply with you own experience about any of the companies listed and do not vote if you haven't really used any one of them.

If you think there is another PS writer service provider that should be listed please post your reply and I'll it to the list

Please, don't waste your money with residencypersonalstatement.org. Don't make the same mistake I made. I will post more details later, because right now I am waiting to see if these people review the horrible PS they wrote for me. I am definitely going to use what I had written myself, since at least it is honest and makes sense. I just was seeking some "professional help" to make my PS better and fit the US standards. Unfortunately, they just cobbed together a bunch on unrelated statements into a non-coherent mess!

CVpersonalstatement.com

cvpersonalstatement edited my PS for internal medicine. They get back to me quickly in less than two days. Their price is reasonable for the service they provide. Their personnel are very professional and care for the applicants. In addition to editing the draft, they gave me useful advice regarding my CV. They did a great job and I highly recommend them.

Dear Docnas,

I wanted to take a moment to respond to your post and express my hope that you were satisfied with the work we did on your personal statement. Like you, I also hope that the people who have voted for my company are real, since I genuinely believe we offer the best personal statement services out there and would not want our rating to be falsely inflated in any way.

To tell you a little more about my experience and why I believe my company is rated the highest of the companies on this forum, I first started editing medical residency personal statements for my friends when I was still working for UNESCO. These friends appreciated the unique, personal approach I took to each of their personal statements and recommended me to others. This led to my having edited a few dozen personal statements for medical residency before I met my wife, my experience with whom gave me invaluable insight into the medical residency application process.

Unlike the friends I had helped previously, my wife (this was before we were married) had almost everything going against her. She was an international medical graduate from Venezuela, with more than two years since she had graduated from medical school, no US clinical experience, almost two years since her last clinical experience (she had moved to the US to study for and pass the USMLE tests), and an F1 visa. However, in spite of this, I helped her write an outstanding personal statement, as well as the other components of her ERAS application, and she was able to obtain a PGY1 position in OB-GYN, which was her specialty.

Since that time, the editors who work for me and I have edited hundreds of personal statements every year, giving each one the same personal attention and expertise that I had devoted to and learned from my friends and wife. It is out of this experience that we have established ourselves as leaders in editing personal statements for medical residency, particularly for IMG applicants.

I hope this helps to provide a little more information about our qualifications for editing medical residency personal statements. If you or anyone else would like more information about our qualifications or the services we provide, please visit us at www.The-Draft-Editor.com or feel free to send me an email at david.lombardino@the-draft-editor.com.

StatementsofPurpose.com

Hello All,

I just wanted to make all of you out there of a scam website that offers personal statement writing services for seemingly cheap rates, but they are the worst in terms of professional courtesy. Not only did they write a really mediocre letter, but when i complained about the service, they replied in an extremely rude and offensive way. I have their e-mails saved in case anyone wanted to see their non-professionalism first hand.
Just beware of using that website. I think it's a one-man operated scam and isn't even a company.

I hope this helps somebody out there. Wish I'd known that before spending my hard earned money on them.

www.The-Draft_Editor.com is now www.DLAEditors.com

Dear All,

Because many of you are valued clients of David Lombardino & Associates editing and proofreading services, we wanted you to be among the first to know about some exciting changes we're making

First, we've changed our name to DLA Editors & Proofers. Our excellent editorial staff remains intact and I am still the owner and editor-in-chief; we just think the shorter name is easier to remember and more directly tells potential clients what it is we do.

Second, we've updated and improved our website. We do have a new URL, www.DLAEditors.com, but our current URL, www.the-draft-editor.com,will remain active for the foreseeable future. Both URLs will take you to the new site, which we think is much easier to use and navigate.

Our Advice for Personal Statements, which many of you have found helpful, is now located at www.dlaeditors.com/advice_for_personal_statements.html, though the link in my previous post will take you there as well.

What's not changing is our commitment to clients like you, which has enabled our success and growth; we've edited over 20 million words-including over 900 personal statements for medical residency-for more than 1,000 clients over the last four years. Our exceptionally high standards of excellence and relentless dedication to service is what got us here-we're not about to change that now!

If you have a personal statement that needs the highest-quality editing and proofreading, I urge you to explore our new website and discover how we can help you realize the fullest potential for your project.

If you have any feedback, questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me directly. We look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,
David Lombardino

I want to share my experience with CVPersonalStatement.com with other members of this forum: they provide the best service possible from my points of view: they edited my PS very well in term of using appropriate words and good comments about flow of PS and how to modify it . also they really impressed me because of their responsibility, I asked them to give my PS back as soon as possible since I wanted to submit it soon and they returned it back in the best shape late night at weekend!
bottom line I highly recommend them to all members.
good luck in the match!

DLA Editors & Proofers

Hello all,

I would like to share my experience with DLA Editors & Proofers. I think it can be really helpful for all those, like me, are indecisive about paying a substantial amount of money for their personal statement revision.

We all know about the importance of the Personal Statement, and how it plays a central role in our application. This is more so for those of us applying to Internal Medicine, where we have to prove through our experience and the way we convey them that we are reliable and good communicators.

After I reviewed some of the editing services stated in the poll above, I chose to purchase the services provided by DLA Editors for two reasons:
1) A good american friend pointed out to me that they were the only BBB accredited business that we could find; and that made it more reliable than other companies we looked at.
2) Secondly, I was persuaded about the personal approach offered by his founder, Mr. Lombardino.

After purchasing his services I received my edited version in 48hours. His team of editors changed several sentences to make it sound better, and fix several punctuation issues. But what it was more important to me, they pointed out two essential things I would've not seen otherwise.

First, they strongly suggested to add some information to a key incident (and essential in my PS) that I was describing and happened to me during my medical training.

Secondly, they pointed out a cliché I was writing about to justify a certain event in my life. I had read more than 30 or 40 "internal medicine" statements before doing mine, so is not like I was not aware of these clichés and common mistakes; and yet, I couldn't have seen these two problems on my statement and fix them without their help.

Finally, I would like to say that it is true that Mr. Lombardino, founder and CEO of this company, is very professional and diligent. He personally addressed my concerns and made sure I was satisfied with the final service I purchased.

I would highly recommend his editing services.

EditingMD

I just would like to share my experience with editingMD. I am applying for fellowship this year and has just finished my PS. I was very impressed with EditingMD's service. Their comments guided me in the right direction and quality of the content was exceptional. The great part is, they are medical people who know how to write. Especially, the one who worked with me has successfully matched into a prestigious program and he really knew what program directors are looking for. He gave me a lot of good advice. Highly recommend!

if you're looking for a good service with reasonable rates and a high-quality statement then try residencypersonalstatements.net

the site might look generic, but they offer a money-back guarantee if you aren't satisfied

other services overcharge you i think

Y'all -

I was wondering what the general consensus of the regular forum members was on these services.
I notice a lot of posts from users with single post history praising various companies and I was wondering if the poll results are reliable?

I've written a PS and was hoping to get an honest review and critique.
