Default guidance needed,very distressed

dear all,

I have found myself in a very distressing situation.

my USMLE STEP 1 score is 243
STEP 2 CK score is 230 with the national average of 240 and 18 SD as given in my report i just received (i know, horrible)

will my below average step 2 CK score cause me problems with Matching?

or will my step 1 score maybe somehow compensate for the disaster?

Guys please help!! Really need to understand what kind of situation ill face during matching.

Thank you

Hi.
I understand what you must be feeling, but trust me it won't hurt much.
Step 1 score is more important and you have done well on it, so no worries.
Your step 2 ck score is also around the average score of applicants who have matched previously. You will fine.
Just focus on your cs and other parts of your application like LoRs and USCE.

Depends on what you want to match into but I agree with the above poster. First time pass with those scores are pretty good! Maybe a few PD's will wonder about the drop in 2ck but those scores will pass through most filters for most programs. It's really going to depend on visa, passing 2cs first time, LOR's, USCE. Good luck

Dear medico one and Bully Ball thank you so much for replying. It sure has given me some hope.

Honestly why my step2 score bothered me so much was because i wanted to go in for a surgical branch.

With my score profile, is it absolutely out of the picture for me to get into competitive branches or can i have some hope if i work on step 2cs , LORs and USCE ?

Again, cant thank you enough for the replies
