Congrats I seriously would love to see your application. I know applicants with double 260+ who got only one IV so far. What time did you apply on the 15th of September ? I'm trying to find any sort of correlation here.

Exactly the point I made a few posts before even though someone thought I was picking on people with lower scores (not true).

I applied on the 15th around noon, then applied to an extra 20 programs by Oct 1. Total of 200.

ECFMG certified on Sep 1.

IV at Bronx Lebanon!

Regarding the correlation, I applied to a total of 70 programs. 5 IVs so far. I applied to 60 on September 20 and to the other 10 on October 7, Bronx-Lebanon was one of the programs I applied on October 7 and I received IV invite today. Maybe that curious ''correlation'' we are talking about is just the mood of the program coordinator when he or she decides to filter applications.

Good luck to everyone.

exactly, sometimes I think that mysterious correlation is simply called "random choice" =))

Yes, you're right. There is no correlation between time of application or getting IVs unless it's a significant time difference like applying late October. I think this whole process is so random with no rule.

Hi everyone! First time posting here.
9 interviews so far, no rejection yet:
-Reading
-Lankenau
-Jefferson/Christiana Care
-Geisinger
-Einstein (Philadelphia)
-Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
-York Hospital
-UPMC Mercy
-Bridgeport

Applied to 40 programs.
Stats:
Step 1 217/ Step 2 CK 238/ Step 2 CS pending/ USCE: doing my first elective right now/ GC holder/ will graduate in May 2016/ no research at all, I was a classical musician before med school.
It seems like scores are not everything anymore because mine are far from outstanding.
Good luck to everyone!

@volkman, your credentials should ideally be written under the visa not needed/GC section

after a 2 weeks of silence, IV to Nassau Medical center. you guys have no idea the frustration im feeling when my dean has been delaying in sending in my mspe and transcript. He still hasnt sent it in but he keeps saying he will. I believe that it may have been costing me interviews being that I have not recieved rejections and nassau basically said dont come to the interview unless my application is complete. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.

I only have 3 too, but I didn't apply to most of the IMG programs already giving invites, so I'm not depressed but I'll admit just a little angst and melancholy.

Personally, I want to become a sub-specialist, and I chose programs that would give me the best shot at that opportunity, a mix of community and mid tier Uni Programs.

Trust the process, our invites will come!

Welcome to the club. What is really bothering me is that i thought with my scores i would have had an invite from at least one IMG friendly state! NY, NJ, Illinois, Michigan, pennsylavania... Why you do this????? :@

Default St. Agnes Preinterview Questions

I dunno whether I should call it an IV call. They sent me an email with a set of pre-interview questions and called it a voluntary exercise. They gave us only 48 hours to submit the answers in PDF format. It was like writing my personal statement all over again but this time only in 48 hours as opposed to 2 weeks The guys who got an IV in St. Agnes you didn't have to go through the same process? Or is this their way of saying bugger off you aren't worth our time? Thanks

I thought with my credentials I'd get invites from the likes of St. Barnabas and Weiss memorial in Chicago. It's weird. Complete silence. I got invites from the programs I least expected to hear back from. And the supposedly IMG friendly programs have been completely silent so far. They are already sending out invites, this thread is evidence of that fact, so perhaps it's just me. Frustrating to say the least.

Congrats to everyone so far...even though this has been somewhat of a weird match cycle so far everyone seems to be doing well! My invites were really busy once the match cycle began but have died down since October, especially this last week, which was kind of unexpected :/ given that the consensus is that things pick up after MSPE's are released. I know from other posts, people are in the same boat right? My question is: I was talking to a fellow I am currently rotating with who told me that if a program invites you for an interview late in the process (i.e. November/December, now apparently mid/late October?) they have very little interest in you, and are only filling spots that they didn't receive confirmation for for previous interviews they sent out and you basically have a small chance of matching at that program...is their any truth to this statement? I would love to hear other peoples input from experiences from colleagues etc where you know this to not be true/or true...Anyway, let's keep the invitations coming hopefully! I have seen some great IV's so far from you all which is really encouraging for all! All the best!

While that may be true for a prematch program, I don't agree for 1 simple reason... the interview is the time to sell yourself. Anything can happen, go in with confidence and you'll be fine, don't worry about when you were invited, AMGs are still getting interviews, trust the process!

I share the same thoughts and agree! Just kind of got knocked down today as far as my confidence level and needed confirmation about this whole process, just as I am sure others do as well! Thanks for the input Kash_md

we'll always be 2nd choice to an AMG 95% percent of the time, and in some programs IMGs will be 2nd choice to a carib graduate like you, it is what it is!

you'll be fine, especially with all the interviews you have.

Good luck!!!

Hi All,
I've been a silent member but I decided to blow off some steam & share my experience with you.

US-IMG (repeat applicant)
Step 1: 228
Step 2: 212
CS: pass
All passed on first attempt
Step 3: Didn't take
YOG: 2011
1 month externship with 1 US-LOR
17 Months clinical research at a Harvard hospital
6+ Original Publications & posters, not a first author though. will be soon, Maybe ! (1 published & the rest is submitted for review)
A strong LOR from Harvard, research-focused however !!
Applied to 176 IM programs.
2 IVs & 11 rejections & counting.
Been getting rejections on a daily basis now.

I'm really panicking right now & fearing going unmatched again & not really sure what else I can do !

best of luck to you all !
