Listening Failed in Med School and then matched

I know failing in med school affects your CV to a certain extent (not much), but I would really like to hear from people who were/are matched despite failing in their medical school... say failing in two subjects in final year, and clearing it after 6 months.:sorry::sorry:

Those are RED flags, you can always explain it in your CV but please read the stats on the reduction of residency spots for 2013 match

hey thanks for your reply...
it means if some bdy fails in final year... and manages to get gr8 scores on steps, as well as gr8 LORs and observerships for 3-4 months... 1-2 research publications... then will it be called a good profile...?? or still it will remain a bad profile...??

and as far as residency for 2013 is concerned, first of all we have wait for nrmp 2012 data to be released, and see what they have done... moreover, US is short of physicians, so taking such a step might prove disastrous to US itself. moreover, even if they do so, they will soon realize that they have made a mistake, coz US needs physicians as their healthcare is still expanding (there is no denial of this fact). so sooner or later they will again open their doors to IMGs.

can people stop thinking about themselves for a minute...this whole thing is affecting AMGs as well don't forget that so basically they're the ones who will suffer...the problem isn't about IMGs its about the medical system in the US which will affect everyone and imgs are just a part of it....so let us just wait and see what happens..hopefully they will figure something out...stay hopeful...good day

yeah... but.. you see nobdy can do anything about the system.. its the lawmakers who will finally decide the policies...!! and we have to accept those things... the sooner, the better...!!

but again, to me all these changes seem to be temporary (if at all they happen). coz there was a bill in the senate, that said about increasing the residency spots by 15000 positions... this itself show that there is shortage of physicians in the US health care system. so sooner or later, they will have to open the doors for IMGs as well...

but as of now... may be their immediate issue is decreasing spending. (debt crisis)

and as far as my question is concerned... i would still be happy to recieve replies to that... the two issues are unrelated...

if my failing in final year will have a huge impact on my chances, then y will i spend money and time for all this UNCERTAINITY...??

for many people 6000-8000 $ is a good amount of money...!! and im one of those people.

im sure there will be many others, who are in the same boat... you see sometimes in life... things just dont work out for you... thats wat happened with me in final year... so does that mean i loose the right to even ASK about my chances in USMLE...???

i was telling about the cost of applying to all the steps... plus cost of doing externships/ observerships plus cost of travelling to different places in US for interviews plus living expenses for all those days...!! doesnt that add to a significant amount ...??? to me it does...

and thats the reason im asking about what impact would failing in final year have on my chances, considering if im able to score nicely on steps.. and pass CS in first attempt... and able to get gr8 LORs... plus observerships...!!

is high if your attending a school that does its clinical rotations here in USA or Canada. but very low if not. please ask around, call some people, programs. because if you think by coming here, doing 3 month of observership, LOR, youll get matched, with 250+ your wrong.
As of next year there will be more AMG, CMG and Osteopath grads than ever. dont waist your time

I have dyslexia so i write words, and have few spelling mistakes. But people like you, Devareddy will never make it, we had over 100 IMG with scores 230+ this year who interviewed for IM and FM, none got matched.
why
1) To many CMG, CSA, AMG in the match who do all their clinical rotations in USA.
2) they have no RED FLAGS

also I like hell, this forum is to discuss, you want to dream, dream. but dont WASTE your time, $$$ MONEY for USA residency. as of 2013 they will be no room. no more prematches, no more IMG's.

These are hard times for us medical students and the country as a whole. Years of mismanagement (Republican and Democratic) are taking a toll. Now we are at a tremendous junction. But, if we can help shape our future we need to do it now. I sense a feeling of doom in a lot of people. We need to put this in perspective. We are fretting for a debt and our livelihood. Just lets think that right now there is people in the world dying without any hope of help. Whatever the outcome of this bill is not going to be worse than being in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban or dying in Siria fighting Assad. As a great climber said in the Peruvian Andes, after 4 days without any food, "get a grip lad".

you are discouraging people...
just because things dinnt workout well for me in final year... its surely not the end of the world.

you see i take that as a challenge & will surely do something nice in my life.

and im sooo sure that whatever happens in 2013, the scenario will soon change... and US will accept IMGs again (even if it shuts its doors as of 2013, though even that is not sure)

the two articles contradict themselves...
one says about increasing 15000 new residency spots and the other speaks about the cuts.

i even heard that AMA had given its full suppourt to the proposal of increasing the residency spots.
