I've been reading about publications in medical journals. No doubt, it is a boost to your CV for residency. I understand, there are many types of publications one can have; original research, case reports, reviews, pictorial essays and picture quizzes. As a medical student, its more plausible to attempt to write a case report or a clinical review (as opposed to original research) and maybe try to submit to Student BMJ or whatever peer reviewed journals.
I'm just a little confused as to what types of publications are actually valued and which ones are deemed insignificant or does it not matter? Not sure if I'm misinformed in a any way and I apologize if I confused anyone! Can someone please educate me?!
