Question Question on Applying for an Advanced Position

Hi, I know this question might have been asked or answered before, but it's hard to search for a specific thread for it so here goes:

I'm applying for a Neurology residency and of course some programs are Advanced. So I have to apply for their Med-Prelim/Neurology counterpart as well. Some Advanced Neurology programs do not have the Med-Prelim/Neurology at all, so I have to apply to Medicine-Preliminary. My questions are:

1. Currently, my LoR authors are Neurologists. Do I need to request my LoR authors to write a separate "Medicine-specific LoR" or should I ask my Internal Medicine professors to write me an LoR for the Med-Prelim/Neurology and Medicine-Preliminary programs?

2. Should I also write a separate personal statement highlighting my interest in Internal Medicine or should I just tackle both Internal Medicine and Neurology in my personal statement?

I am asking because if I DO NEED a separate personal statement and separate LoR, I find it weird that I will appear as if I am an applicant who is trying to apply to both Neurology and Medicine when in fact, my only interest is Neurology and that the Medicine program is just a pre-requisite.

Can someone enlighten me please? Thank you in advance!
