If you've been doing something medically related for the past 6 years then your chances are decent based on scores/citizenship. If not, you might get some interviews based on your scores, but be ready to answer questions about what you've been up.

Based on what you have provided:

Pros- Excellent USMLE scores, no attempts, LoRs and no visa
Cons- YOG, little USCE, and no research/publications

Your test scores will be nothing but helpful in getting the attention of programs. Not needing a visa will also broaden your program choices. LoRs from the US are great to have as well, especially if they are recent and from the US. Unfortunately, most programs do not count observerships as USCE unless you can prove you did some hands on work.

Of course, as Iím sure you know, being a graduate from more than five years ago will be a challenge for you. You will have to be prepared to address your gap in interviews. It may be worth mentioning the gap (briefly!) in your Personal Statement by letting programs know what you have been doing in that time to grow as a doctor. Keep it light and positive, do not get stuck in a negative tone at any point in your statement.

Make sure your MyERAS Application is complete/error free and donít ignore the Hobbies section!

Once you have your supporting documents in order, you should have a good shot at a residency position. Research programs that you qualify before September 15 so ensure you applying to the right places.
