Post How an IMG scored 248 on the USMLE

As an IMG you constantly have to find the latest update to learn how to prepare for the USMLE exam.

USMLE step 1 is a very daunting exam for most students, but its just a test. Just like any test, mastering the game is the key to excelling on the test. let me share some secrets to scoring 250 on the test.

1. Set your goal to score as high as you can. e.g 250- If you shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars. Be prepare to burst your butt to score in the 99th percentile range.

2. Use the RIGHT RESOURCES- Using the wrong resources is the recipe for a low score on step 1. Here are the resources I recommend.

a) First Aid for the USMLE step 1- not a book you can just read- you need a question bank to fill in the gaps in first aid to know what, OPTOCHIN sensitive means.

b) Practice at least 2200- 4000 questions. - I dont mean read the questions, answers and glance at the explanation and move on. Wrong move! You have to PAINFULLY read both the right and wrong questions and answers and physically write the summary explanations into first aid.

c) Right QBANK- SmashUSMLE 2000 question bank; USMLEworld, Kaplan question banks are other question banks I recommend.

3. The RIGHT ONLINE BOARD Review- If you want to really do well, you should use an online or inclass board review. SmashUSMLE is an excellent resource I recommend. Thousands of students have used this website, www.SmashUSMLE.com to prepare and score above a 240 on the board exam.

4. DO not read too many books- use a few books.

To learn more on how to score 250 on step 1- I explained more on
All the best
