Post Need HELP: timeline for clinicals & Residency

Hi guys,
I am a caribbean student from Windsor studying for step 1. My school does not have a time line for taking the step 1. I finished my basic science 3 months back. I am planning to take my step on June 30th 2012. After this I will being clinical rotations and while I am dong that I will be taking following steps.
However, I DONT want to miss residency slot of 2014.
I have heard that it takes time to get diploma from carib school and then get the ECFMG certification along with some time taken off between rotations and also to take other steps. My school requires me to do 72 weeks of rotations.
So keeping all these things in mind what should be the latest date I should take it by? Do I need to take step 1 earlier? or Can I still take the step in June 30th and still make it for 2014. I really dont want to miss the residency slot by that much. This thought has been driving me crazy.
So if you guys can shine some light on these clouds of darkness stoping me from focusing it will be really reallyyyy helpful.
Thanks guys
