For Non-US-IMG's applying to NY, I noticed that lots of residency programs have this disclaimer on the "application requirements" portion of their website:
"IMPORTANT: We cannot accept for residency any IMG with more than 12 weeks of clinical clerkship outside of the country of their medical school unless the person is a graduate from a medical school which has been approved by the NYS Education Department, (www.nysed.gov
) this is a New York State rule."--
I have seen numerous posts (in this subforum) about how you CAN apply for residency in new york even if you are a non-us IMG.
My question is why would the residency program post that on their website if they are not going to take applications from non-us IMG? Can anyone advise? I would be literally wasting $200-300 if this was enforced by every NY program i am applying to.
