Default 2016 Emergency Medicine Residency Applicants

Searched and didn't see that anyone had started a thread yet (someone correct me if I am wrong). I was in the 2015 thread and found it helpful so I figured I'd start one for this year. I'm reapplying to EM after matching to my backup plan of a PGY-1 position last year.

Post your stats as: Step 1 (attempts)/Step 2 (attempts)/CS(a)/Step 3(if applicable)/clinical experience/YOG/training

My app stats:
237(1)/251(1)/CS(1)/Step 3 pending/2015/USCE/US-citizen IMG/currently a PGY-1 resident

Applied to everything not in Cali with 3-SLOEs and a good PD letter. If I don't get EM this year, I literally don't know what could have been done differently.

Things I did in the off season after not getting EM last year: 2 more away rotations (only had 1 SLOE last year and I think that was part of the problem), took Step 3, began a couple research projects, worked my a$$ off since 7/1 at my PGY-1 to get a good PD letter.

Good luck everyone!! This is such an uphill battle but worth it!

I'll be applying for the first time. I am applying also to FM and IM programs as a backup. Applied to approx 80 programs for EM. I think I have about a 50/50 chance of matching into EM, but let's see what transpires. Good luck to all as this season unfolds.

What are your app stats? And are you FMG or IMG?
