Quick explanation.. For more details google it.

Prematch is offered by programs that do not participate in the match.. The match uses algorithms to match applicant ranking of programs to the Programs' ranking of the applicants they've interviewed. Prematch is direct. Program likes you and if you like the program you accept the prematch.

Most programs participate in the match. Some programs dont (prematch programs) and they will specify it in their website.

I hope that answers your question. If you have more questions, just ask, I will answer if I have an answer & when I have the time.

There are still programs who participate in the match and offer you a prematch.
Some programs will ask you to sign the contract at the interview day while others will ask you about it a few days after the IV.

The rules say there shudnt be prematch offers but up to last season, some applicants received and matched via prematch offers.

How to deal with it? It depends on you really. If you think you can do better and that your ambition is bigger than this program then you shouldn't accept bec it means other programs will also be interested in you. If the IV was at the end of the ssn and you think it's a good choice or u havent had a lot of IV then itz wise to take it. Depends on you and what are your career plans but you have to be prepared for it before each IV just in case it happened, so you know what u're gonna say to them.

Spinal.. That is what I heard before the "All In Rule".. Before that, 5 positions would be prematch, 5 would be match.. That was the format.. As of 2013 or so, they hav changed that.. Its either "All in" match or "All outside" match or prematch...

Correct me if I am wrong coz I also wanna be enlightened.

Spinal is very confused! There is a "All in or all out" rule. Programs that participate in the match are no longer allowed to offer prematch. End of story!!!
