Default Don’t Face the Post-Match SOAP Alone

If you are concerned about Matching during the regular Match Season, there is still hope by participating in the Post-Match SOAP.

The Post-Match Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program® (SOAP®) takes the whole residency application season and condenses it down to only four days. Between looking at the Unfilled Programs List, researching/picking programs, updating your application, sending out 45 total applications, and participating in the Offer Rounds-- the whole process can be overwhelming!

Electronic Residency offers residency program research assistance with the newly developed Post-Match Program Compatibility Search (PCS) which allows you to search and instantly filter through relevant programs provided to you in the NRMP® Unfilled List during the SOAP Week. Using the programs’ ACGME® 10-digit codes, your instant results will display whether a given program’s requirements are compatible with your credentials or not.

If you have any further questions about the Post-Match SOAP, feel free to contact the Post-Match experts at Electronic Residency by calling 760-904-5484 ex. 1 or emailing support@electronicresidency.com.

Hello,
I have a few questions -

  1. Would you be able to tell me how many unfilled spots were there in FM last year? I am thinking of getting the PCS service in case I have to participate in SOAP and would like to know if FM would have 45 or more programs.
  2. Is it recommended to apply to more than 1 specialty in SOAP to increase your chances?
  3. Can I buy the PCS service after I find out the main results on Monday?
  4. Lastly, I was wondering if you could tell me whether we can edit our documents such as the ERAS CV before applying to SOAP?

1. Would you be able to tell me how many unfilled spots were there in FM last year? I am thinking of getting the PCS service in case I have to participate in SOAP and would like to know if FM would have 45 or more programs. There were 69 programs with 149 total positions in FM last year.

2. Is it recommended to apply to more than 1 specialty in SOAP to increase your chances? Yes. As long as you have specialty specific documents, it is wise to apply in more than one specialty.

3. Can I buy the PCS service after I find out the main results on Monday? Yes! You may purchase Electronic Residency at any time.

4. Lastly, I was wondering if you could tell me whether we can edit our documents such as the ERAS CV before applying to SOAP? No, you may not edit your ERAS Common Application (except the current contact info). The only documents you can work with are adding Personal Statements or letters of recommendation.

For Anesthesiology, there was:

PGY-1
Programs Unmatched = 11
Positions Available = 28
Positions Filled = 23

PGY-2
Programs Unmatched = 11
Positions Available = 28
Positions Filled = 26

For more data from last year's SOAP, see: http://blog.matcharesident.com/predi...p-be-prepared/
