Default Pls help calculating yog

i graduated in October 2011, if i apply for 17 match, what will be my year of graduation? will they count it as more than 5 years and old grad ?

Time since graduation is calculated from the month you graduated until the month you apply to residency.

You are in a tough grey area. Until October 2016, you will be at 5 years since graduation. After October, you will technically be 6 years (which puts you in the "older candidate" category). To avoid this, try to get you applications completed in September.

thank you so much for your reply, what if they see my application in November i had 1 yr of residency in my home country, but i know they are not gonna count that

You are correct, unfortunately programs do not count the required residency. They start counting from when you graduate from medical school.

If you apply in November, you will technically be at 6 years. However, since you are so close, you might be able to get away with applying to programs with a 5 years or less cut off. The choice will be up to you.
