Listening IM or FM ?

Hi guys,

i am an old graduate (YOG 2005), step 1 97/232, step 2ck 99/249 (both first attempt), 3 US LORs, 1 month externship in FM, 1 month in IM, need Visa, residency in my home country,no gaps in med.practice.

How many programs should i apply for? Do i have a chance to match in IM? Or it is better to apply only for FM programs?

Any advice appreciated!

Hi, the average number of positions for people with high scores as you were applying to was around 80-110 in the main specialty and 30-60 in additional specialties. However it is well shown in the last match that the higher programs you apply to the more interviews you get. My advice is plan the thingsd based on your budget, even if you have to apply to 150+ programs.

Thank you very much for the reply!
I am going to apply for 150 programs (100 IM+50FM). Hopefully my YOG will not be an obstacle to getting interviews and i will mange to find programs without 5 year cut-off requirement.
