Unhappy Can use some advice

Hi, I am stuck with a decision. Here's my problem.

I have the worst step 1 score (215). For some reason I didn't want to give up. Moving forward, I am doing CK prep now and i dont see my self taking the exam anytime soon. (I know I need some really good score in CK. So, I am taking my sweet time)

I will be doing CS some time in march and have 3 electives as of now.

My options -

1) Take CS, do 2 electives and dedicate the time left for CK preparation, so that I can apply for this year match. (I know my chances of matching are slim)

2)Take CS, do 3 electives, improve my resume with good CK score & may be step 3 with few observeships/research. Which means, I cannot apply for this year match. (But I get to improve my resume)

I can use some advice. Please feel free to comment.

P.S. I am an International medical student with no USA visa status of any kind

I definitely think you should wait and apply for next year's match. A Step 1 score of 215 is not horrible but isn't a great score either. A high CK score will definitely improve your chances of getting interviews and matching, so don't rush it right now. Take the time to kill your Step 2 CK, and I'm sure if you have time Step 3 can only help. Personally, I would never rush to take one of these exams so just spend the year getting a great score and adding to your resume.

**Also just to add, a few programs I interviewed with brought up the jump I had from my Step 1 score to my Step 2 score (I had high 220's on Step 1 and then high 240's on step 2CK) and so I think if you spend your time on Step 2 CK and really do well I think you'll be better off in the long-run.

i agree. second option is much better. 215 isnt the end of the world but a pattern of having a low ck is kind of a bummer. Take your time, more practice tests, more questions and give it when you see at least a 20-25 point improvement. PASS YOUR CS. A failure in your CS is very damning. Build up your resume instead of wasting money and effort (and they see that its your second match) and apply once everything else on your resume is spotless.
