Calendar Weekends for interns

Hi all!

I was wondering about the intern schedule. I understand that work hours will be almost 6 am to 5 pm every day except when on call, but what about weekends . when do I get weekends off?
I did it !

That depends on your on-call schedule. You will most likely be on call every fourth day...so once you know when your first on-call day for the month is you can work out when your free weekends will be....you usually end up with at least one full weekend , one full Saturday and one full Sunday off per month.

Most of the residency programs have now implemented the "night float" system.

This means that you there's a team that will be covering night shifts for the entire month "except the weekend".

This means your on call schedule will be only for the weekends as the week days are covered by the night shift team.

Depending on how large and busy the program, your average would be doing two weekends and getting two free weekends per month in general.

we have night float as well. With that, you must get 4 days of in 4 weeks of period. It usually ends up one whole weekend off and one day of in other two weekends.
